After an initial period of on-site work, this position is eligible for a hybrid (both onsite and remote) telework arrangement. Candidate's permanent residence must be in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
This position will be located at our St. Paul office with occasional time spent at our Minneapolis office.

The Office of General Counsel provides a wide range of legal and advisory services for the Metropolitan Council board and the organization's regional administration, management, and staff of its operating divisions. The Council's Data Practices Office is housed within the Office of General Counsel. It receives and responds to data requests; partners with all five divisions; and ensures that the Council complies with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act. The successful applicant will coordinate data requests involving the Council's Metro Transit division and work closely with Metro Transit leadership and staff. They will be under the general supervision of the Head of Data Practices.
How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region :
The Data Practices Specialist will support public access to Metropolitan Council information as well as data privacy rights. The position manages data requests involving the Council's Metro Transit division by collecting, reviewing, and redacting government data in accordance with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and other privacy and disclosure laws.
This posting will establish a 180 day eligibility pool for current and future opening.

If you are new to the Metropolitan Council , you must pass a background check which verifies education, employment, and criminal history. A driving record check and / or physical may be conducted if applicable to the job. If you have a criminal conviction, you do not automatically fail. The Metropolitan Council considers felony, gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor convictions on a case-by-case basis, based on whether they are related to the job and whether the candidate has demonstrated adequate rehabilitation.
