CFD Research Corporation is adding a talented Applied Structural Engineer to our current team. This individual will support a variety of company programs related to high speed ground test facilities. Potential areas of analysis include enthalpy generators, nozzles, test sections, ejectors and exhaust systems.

The candidate will conduct structural analysis and join a team involved in all aspects of modeling and simulating ground test infrastructure. The candidate will help expand and improve nascent structural analysis capabilities within the team. Most of the candidate's analysis will support design and manufacturing work at the company's Hollywood Test Center.

The potential exists for the aspiring candidate to help grow and eventually lead a new group dedicated to high fidelity structural analysis using commercial tools. The candidate will conduct FEA with Dassault Abaqus and interface with Dassault SolidWorks CAD.

Basic Qualifications

• US Citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 8+ years' engineering experience (at least 6 of which are in M&S)
• Experience with Abaqus and Solidworks
• Knowledge and ability to use and apply classical hand-calculations
• Experience in metallic structures, joints, bolted joints welded joints, and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code design by analysis
• Experience with static analysis, transient dynamic analysis, thermal-structural analysis & thermal distortion, fatigue and fracture.
• Understanding of structural vibration, structural shock and designing structures to meet vibration requirements.
• Strong understanding of material failure and the ability to write a margin of safety with limited test data, using similar or common materials.
• Above average skill writing extensible Python scripts to automatically parse and plot simulation results
