Overview
The Regulatory Compliance & Technical Services Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining appropriate records to meet corporate and government requirements, ensuring the accuracy of product labeling, and offering regulatory expertise on emerging federal and state laws. This role is part of the Food Safety & Quality Assurance department and reports to the manager of regulatory compliance & technical services. This position will be based in one of four locations : San Francisco, CA; South San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; or Carson, CA, and will require some travel between facilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop finished product nutrition labels and technical information using Genesis Foods software, including ingredient statement, allergen statement, nutrition facts panel, and validation of nutrition claims.
- Review product labeling, marketing collateral, and Ecommerce site content for accuracy and regulatory compliance with FDA and state regulations.
- Maintain an organized and accurate ingredient and formulation database in Genesis Foods and leverage the database to report on additive usage levels.
- Coordinate supplier and ingredient and packaging documentation collection, review, and approval, including specification, nutrition, formula, bioengineered status, 3rd party audits, chemical contaminants, and Kosher certificates.
- Manage kosher schedules and submission of new products to kosher organizations in a timely manner.
- Support international partners with documentation such as product and nutrition specifications, certificate of free sale, and chemical additive inquiries.
- Assist See's shops and customer care teams by responding to customer inquiries and providing technical product information.
- Work with R&D and Procurement to provide regulatory insight during early stages of product development.
- Review and analyze new and emerging regulations and legal trends.
- Complete additional projects assigned by the manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in food science, nutrition, or a related field.5+ years of food regulatory experience in the Food & Beverage industry.Experience with Genesis Foods or other formulation management software.Self-starter with initiative and continuous improvement mindset.Passion for food regulations and ability to research and understand emerging legislation.Organized and detail-oriented with excellent record-keeping skills.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and meet aggressive timelines with changing priorities.Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and work independently with minimal supervision.Proficiency in Windows, MS Office (or equivalent), Adobe Acrobat, and project management software.Compensation & Benefits
