Administrator

SF Metalworks | Ability to commute to Colusa, CA (Hybrid)

Full-Time | $25-$35 per hour, DOE

At SF Metalworks , we create extraordinary custom architectural metalwork that blends craftsmanship with innovation. As our business grows, we are seeking an Administrator who can anchor our operations by bringing order, compliance, and proactive support to our leadership team and staff. This is a pivotal role that ensures our company remains compliant, financially organized, and well-supported in every administrative detail.

The Opportunity

As the Administrator , you will serve as both the backbone of our administrative systems and a trusted partner to our CEO and leadership team. You will oversee compliance, finance workflows, HR processes, and office management while also providing executive support. This hybrid position requires a consistent presence at our Colusa, CA shop a few days each week to manage essential mail and onsite tasks, while offering the flexibility to work remotely or at a co-working space (covered by SFM) until our permanent office space is complete.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance & Regulation - Ensure adherence to city, state, and federal requirements across HR, payroll, licensing, and accounting functions. Partner with our CPA on tax and reporting obligations.
  • Finance Support - Work closely with leadership and the accounting team to support insurance audits, loan applications, and other financial workflows.
  • Human Resources - Manage core HR functions including recruiting coordination, onboarding / offboarding, benefits, E-Verify, and workers' compensation. Maintain complete and confidential employee files.
  • Office & Executive Support - Maintain organized filing systems, manage mail and vendor data, order supplies, arrange travel, and provide direct executive assistance to the CEO as needed.
  • Culture & Team Support - Contribute to a positive, organized, and professional work environment. Anticipate needs, create solutions, and provide consistent, proactive support.

Qualifications

Required :

  • 5+ years of progressive administrative experience, with exposure to C-Suite or executive-level support.
  • Preferred experience with General Contractors or Manufacturing (but not required)
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping, payroll practices, and HR processes.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, QuickBooks Online, Dropbox, Slack, and related tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize competing deadlines, and work independently with precision.
  • Preferred :

  • Familiarity with construction, manufacturing, or professional services industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance compliance requirements with day-to-day operational efficiency.
  • Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Pay Range : $25-$35, depending on experience.
  • Company-covered co-working space, or dedicated technology provided if working exclusively from SFM's office.
  • Flexible hybrid work schedule with consistent on-site presence in Colusa, CA.

  • Physical & Work Environment

    This is a full-time position, typically 30-40 hours per week, with availability during Pacific Standard Time business hours. The role may involve up to 10 hours of computer work daily if needed, along with occasional shop visits to support operational needs.
