We are looking for an accomplished Audit Director to lead the Internal Audit function for a prominent insurance and annuities organization. This long-term contract position requires strategic vision, exceptional leadership, and deep expertise in risk management, governance, and regulatory practices. The role involves working closely with executive leadership, regulators, and the Board of Directors to ensure robust internal controls and compliance.
Responsibilities :
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive risk-based internal audit plan that aligns with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee audits across financial, operational, compliance, and IT domains to ensure thorough evaluation of internal controls.
- Provide independent assurance to the Audit Committee and senior leaders regarding the effectiveness of governance and risk management frameworks.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, regulators, and external auditors, to strengthen audit processes and relationships.
- Conduct audits specific to insurance and annuity products, investment operations, actuarial processes, and policyholder services.
- Partner with the Chief Risk Officer and Chief Compliance Officer to proactively identify and address emerging risks.
- Ensure audit practices adhere to industry standards, including those established by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Lead and mentor a team of audit professionals, fostering expertise in insurance, annuities, and financial services.
- Communicate audit findings and actionable recommendations to relevant stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
- Champion process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance audit efficiency and effectiveness.
- Extensive experience in internal audit leadership roles, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
- Deep knowledge of insurance and annuities products, investment operations, and actuarial processes.
- Proven ability to develop and implement risk-based audit plans that align with organizational objectives.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks and best practices.
- Expertise in audit methodologies, including familiarity with standards such as CobiT and those set by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with executive leaders, regulators, and boards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing audit teams.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; certifications such as CPA, CIA, or equivalent preferred.
