Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our construction sites. This position requires a strong understanding of safety regulations, risk management, and occupational health practices. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with project supervisors and site personnel to promote a culture of safety and ensure adherence to OSHA standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist management in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Perform employee evaluations, including road evaluations for drivers and task-specific assessments to ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
- Provide training and support to employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and equipment usage.
- Collaborate with project supervisors to assess risks associated with construction activities and develop mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and near misses, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Coordinate workers' compensation claims and ensure proper documentation is completed.
- Assist in the communication with clinic staff when injured employees have medical appointments.
- Liaison with Human Resources to communicate effectively information about ongoing employee injuries.
- Stay updated on changes in safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to construction management.
- Facilitate communication between management, employees, and regulatory agencies regarding safety concerns.
- Assist the compliance department in completing operational qualification field evaluations.
- Assist with onsite accident investigation Injury / Vehicle / Damage, and properly create and document reports.
Skills
Ability to use Safety audit software to perform, track ,and document field safety audits.Strong knowledge of risk management principles as they apply to the construction industry.Familiarity with OSHA regulations and compliance management practices.Understanding of occupational health standards relevant to construction sites.Experience with Safety & Health protocols.Ability to analyze data related to workplace incidents and recommend corrective actions needed.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to train others effectively in English and Spanish.Knowledge in underground construction, excavation safety preferredKnowledge in Underground utility installations (Gas is preferred)Knowledge of DOT regulations is preferred.Assist in maintaining injury logs, safety training records, and OSHA compliance documentation.Prepare and update spreadsheets and reports using Microsoft Excel.Help coordinate safety meetings, training sessions, and follow-up tasks.Join us in fostering a safe working environment where every employee can thrive while contributing to successful project outcomes.
