San Joaquin Valley Youth For Christ (YFC) is a non-denominational Christian ministry dedicated to reaching young people, especially those who are incarcerated or post-incarcerated, by introducing them to the Gospel and discipling them for life. The Juvenile Justice Ministry Coordinator is a part-time leadership role overseeing all YFC ministry programs and outreach efforts to incarcerated and post-incarcerated youth aged 11-19 within the San Joaquin Valley. The coordinator will be responsible for strategic development, program health, reporting, scheduling, volunteer management, fundraising, and upholding YFC's core spiritual and cultural attributes.
Responsibilities
- Ministry Leadership & Oversight : Direct and guide staff and volunteer teams within the Juvenile Justice Ministry area, ensuring alignment with YFC\'s "5 Essentials" and national best practices; develop strategies for the health, growth, and effectiveness of all ministry sites serving incarcerated and post-incarcerated youth; regularly evaluate ministry impact and outcomes; build cooperative relationships with facility staff and administration; participate in the YFC Leadership Blueprint process; assist new ministry staff through the YFC Credentialing process.
- Ministry Growth & Outreach : Collaborate to develop and execute a vision for ministry expansion; lead recruitment, training, and development of volunteers entering juvenile justice facilities; learn and train others in the "Three-Story" model of relational evangelism and discipleship; build a strategic community support team.
- Administrative & Reporting : Manage administrative functions, reporting, scheduling, and accurate program records; ensure timely submission of reports; oversee data related to participation, outcomes, and volunteer engagement; manage program resources and operational efficiency.
- Volunteer Management : Develop and manage recruiting, training, and retention plans for volunteers; provide ongoing oversight and support to volunteers.
- Donor Development : Participate in fundraising efforts and develop local support for ministry sites; partake in Faithful Development Activity requirements.
- Spiritual Responsibilities : Maintain a deep personal commitment to the Christian faith; participate in regular prayer, devotion, and worship; model empathy and care; potential to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through YFC processes.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills : Commitment to YFC\'s vision, mission, and Statement of Faith; familiarity with YFC\'s Blueprint for Leadership and "5 Essentials" ministry model; self-motivated with strong character; exceptional ability to connect with youth aged 11-19; effective public speaking; proven leadership of a diverse volunteer team; commitment to diversity; excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to manage multiple responsibilities; strong relationship-building with adults and youth; perseverance and resilience.Cultural Attributes (Obedience to the Call of Christ) : Humility, trust in God, joyful camaraderie, courageous faithfulness, and commitment to Kingdom-inspired diversity and inclusion.Education & Experience
Three (3) years of ministry experience preferred.Experience working with at-risk and / or incarcerated youth preferred.AA degree or higher preferred; relevant experience and certificates also considered.Position Requirements
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to ministry sites and community locations within the San Joaquin Valley.Must pass a comprehensive background check and child safety clearances per YFC policies and state regulations.Benefits
All employees receive vacation and sick leave. All employees receive mileage reimbursement. All part-time employees receive cell phone reimbursement up to $50 / month.
