About Us : Meals on Wheels Orange County is the largest nonprofit provider of nutrition and supportive services for at-risk older adults in Central and North Orange County. Our mission is to combat hunger and loneliness among older adults through nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks and to support families through day services. Annually, we deliver nearly 2 million meals to 20,000 at-risk older adults.
Location : Santa Ana, CA (The Village)
Hours : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM
Salary Range : $85,000 - $105,000 annually (Salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience)
JOB SUMMARY : The Sr. Manager of Donor Stewardship is responsible for implementing a comprehensive donor stewardship program that strengthens relationships, recognizes generosity, and maximizes donor retention and engagement. This role ensures that all donors experience meaningful communication, acknowledgment, and impact reporting in alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic fundraising goals.
This role will focus on program implementation and stewardship execution. The position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, self-management, discretion, and sound judgment when working with donors and handling sensitive or confidential information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- In partnership with the Sr. Director of Development oversee a proactive donor stewardship strategy for all giving levels, including major gifts, annual giving, monthly giving, and planned gifts.
- Manage annual giving circles, monthly giving memberships, or legacy societies.
- Implement recognition programs, including personalized communications, and acknowledgments.
- Monitor and analyze donor retention metrics to maximize long-term giving, including annual giving, monthly giving, planned gifts and major gifts.
- Grow annual donor revenue by $150,000–$300,000 through personalized engagement, stewardship, and relationship-building initiatives.
- Manage the donor acknowledgment process to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant gift recognition.
- Oversee donor database manager to ensure records to maintain accurate, up-to-date information on donor interactions and preferences.
- Partner with the Chief Development Officer and Sr. Director of Development to support moves management and donor cultivation strategies to further grow the annual giving program, monthly giving program and launch of the corporate giving program.
- Assist with research on donor prospects, especially for major gifts or corporate partnerships.
- Assist in creating stewardship collateral, including annual impact report and donor highlight pieces.
- Lead stewardship-related campaigns, including donor renewal appeals, anniversary acknowledgments, and milestone celebrations.
- Supervise and mentor staff and volunteers involved in donor stewardship activities.
- In partnership with the Sr. Director of Development oversee corporate donors and sponsors, ensuring timely acknowledgment and recognition.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Development and Director of Marketing and Events to highlight corporate partners in communications, reports, and events.
- Assist with fundraising events as needed, ensuring a seamless donor experience and recognition for sponsors and participants.
- Assist the Chief Development officer and Grants Manager with timely grant acknowledgments and impact communications to strengthen funder relationships.
- Document stewardship processes and best practices for team efficiency.
- Support targeted campaigns (Giving Tuesday, end-of-year appeals, campaigns).
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree preferred5+ years of experience in donor stewardship, fundraising, or nonprofit development, including experience managing major gifts or high-level donor relationsStrong project management skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft personalized donor messaging.Knowledge of donor database systems (e.g., DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge, or similar)Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams and with external stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment with the skills to establish priorities, set objectives, and achieve stated goalsData-driven with experience analyzing donor trends and metricsAbility to attend functions / activities outside normal business hoursAbility to lead and inspire a small team or cross-functional group in achieving stewardship goalsEnjoyment in working with a diverse range of donors, older adults, volunteers, and community partnersExemplifies Meals on Wheels OC’s organizational values of compassion, integrity, respect, excellence, communication, and innovationAbility to provide own transportation for local travel, valid driver's license, auto insurance requiredPHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS :
