Position Summary
The Quality System Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the manufacturing facility's quality management system (QMS) to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. This role works cross-functionally with production, engineering, and leadership teams to drive continuous improvement, enhance product quality, and maintain certifications such as ISO, IATF, or AS standards (as applicable).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / AS9100 or other applicable standards.
- Monitor and audit processes to ensure adherence to company and customer quality requirements.
- Lead internal audit programs and coordinate external audits by customers, registrars, or regulatory bodies.
- Manage document control and ensure proper versioning of policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve non-conformances, customer complaints, and supplier quality issues.
- Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities, ensuring timely closure and effectiveness verification.
- Track, analyze, and report quality performance metrics (PPM, scrap, rework, audit findings, etc.) to leadership.
- Provide training to employees on quality standards, procedures, and tools.
- Lead risk assessments, FMEA reviews, and process validations as required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality improvement tools.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with industry and customer requirements.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and production readiness from a quality systems perspective.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).2–5+ years of experience in quality systems engineering within a manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or other applicable quality standards.Experience with root cause analysis tools (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, etc.).Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt preferred).Proficiency in MS Office and quality management software / tools.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.Preferred Skills
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).Experience with PPAP, APQP, SPC, and MSA methodologies.Hands-on experience with internal / external audits.Working hours : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM. After-hours assistance when needed.
