Overview
Provide Components Engineering support on component selection analysis for new designs, and potentially redesigns that address Diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages (DMSMS) issues. Ensure that components being considered for designs adhere to Parts Management Plans. Responsible for Components Engineering efforts in addressing obsolescence, standardizing components across multiple efforts, engineering data definition, preparation of part standards and procurement control requirements, quality problem resolution, and process improvements. Serves as liaison between part vendors and procurement, LM customers and subcontractors. Activities include resolving obsolescence issues, counterfeit avoidance, generating customer reports, identifying part substitutions, supporting second source part qualification, preparing part procurement specifications, and resolving development and production parts problems and issues.
