The Total Rewards Operations Manager is responsible for the direction of Workday operations and Payroll management for Apple Bank. The incumbent leads all Workday activities, including but not limited to the administration of system configurations, data integrity, integrations with third party vendors and system security, as well as the maintenance of employee and manager self-service function in the Workday system. The Total Rewards Operations Manager oversees the daily tasks for a team of payroll and HRIS professionals for Apple Bank’s 1300+ employees, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The Manager is the main point of contact for internal and external audits, risk management and vendor management related to payroll, benefits, and compensation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with all areas of the HR team (Talent, Training, Benefits, and Compensation, Employee Relations) to define, establish and modify business processes and specifications related to the configuration of Workday and peripheral HR systems.Ensure highest level of processing and administrative accuracy, data security and integrity across system platforms; develop and maintain controls to prevent unauthorized user access to system information.Act as lead technical contact for all cyclical processes; such as; annual comp review, performance reviews, open enrollment, etc.Act as subject matter expert and system administrator for Workday, including day-to-day troubleshooting and emergency intervention when required; assume responsibility for vendor management, including escalation of issues that require remediation.Own all integrations including day-to-day maintenance, configuration changes, and initial setup.Main contact with third party AMS provider for additional Workday support as needed.Provide strategic leadership for Payroll function by developing and overseeing the administration of policies and procedures to ensure Bank compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations.Maintain all payroll information in accordance with statutory requirements.Lead team of associates who administer payroll for 1300+ employees, ensuring timely and accurate bi-weekly and ad hoc payroll processing.Review payroll preparation activities, including the entry of employee change information, new hire set up, employee terminations, auditing, and reporting; review accuracy of payments and pay statements, and conduct post payroll audits.Provide Workday support to all departments on matters related to Workday functionality.Audit and approve transmissions for tax and garnishment payments along with related reports.Identify opportunities for existing process and system improvements, as well as appropriate new technologies.Manage the preparation of annual W-2 and related tax filings, as well as any other regulatory requirements.Oversee Internal Audit and external regulators regarding payroll, benefits, retirement audit / compliance inquiries; provide documentation upon request.Keep abreast of all federal and state payroll tax law changes.Perform additional duties upon request.SKILLS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in related field required.6 + years of related HRIS, Payroll, and Time & Attendance system experience.Must have at least 2 years of experience managing Payroll / HRIS team.Must have experience configuring Workday.Workday certifications are a plus.In-depth knowledge of payroll calculations and processing procedures, laws, taxes, and best practices.Knowledge of local and federal compliance related wage payment and payroll tax matters.Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, including advanced Excel skills.Strong understanding of accounting principles.Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.Must have strong client service skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels of the organization, including staff, managers, and senior management.Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Visa sponsorship not available.
