This position is a sworn career service position located within the Bureau of Law Enforcement. To be considered for this position, the applicant must have passed the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) law enforcement examination or equivalency by the application deadline.

The Organization and Mission : The Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco licenses the manufacture, distribution, sale, and service of alcoholic beverage and tobacco products in Florida, including processing of license applications; collection and auditing of taxes and fees; and enforcement of the laws and regulations governing the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries, pursuant to Chapters 210, 561-565, 567-569, Florida Statutes. The division's three bureaus—Licensing, Auditing and Enforcement—comprise a team of approximately 330 personnel fulfilling regulatory obligations statewide.

The Work You Will Do : This is an opportunity to serve as a state law enforcement officer in Florida. The Bureau seeks applicants interested in investigating complex crimes while deterring underage access to alcoholic beverages, tobacco and nicotine products. These positions require team members to work some nights and weekends as necessary.

Your Specific Responsibilities :

• Plan, conduct and complete criminal, administrative and civil investigations within the Division's jurisdiction.
• Conduct minimum age compliance surveys (alcohol and tobacco), develop work plans involving the public and other government agencies to reduce non-compliance, and complete planned activities with necessary adjustments.
• Independently conduct investigations of stolen or counterfeit cigarette tax stamps; unlawful shipments of alcoholic beverages or tobacco products into the State; non-tax paid products and fraudulent applications, tax returns, and records; and unlawful ties between manufacturers or distributors and retailers.
• Prepare well-composed, accurate reports and submit documentation within specified timeframes.
• Conduct interviews, testify in official legal proceedings, and participate in cooperative investigations with other agencies.
• Provide training regarding State laws and rules enforced by the Division; participate in community prevention and education events.
• Enforce final orders, settlement agreements, and court orders; make arrests; serve warrants; recruit and document informants; and account for investigative expenses.
• Plan and conduct inspections of businesses licensed to sell or serve alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to promote compliance.
• Participate in required training and maintain issued equipment.
• Maintain familiarity with the division's policies, legal opinions, statutory changes, rules, directives, and court decisions.
• Perform other related duties and participate in state-declared emergency operations as assigned, which may involve extended travel.
• Maintain proper physical conditioning to perform the duties of a sworn law enforcement officer.
