Garrett Technologies, Inc. is seeking an accomplished engineering leader to direct the full life-cycle design and development of diverse products for the medical device and commercial / industrial markets.

The Assistant General Manager Engineering (Director-level) will lead multidisciplinary teams of project managers, engineers, and technicians through multiple concurrent product development programs. This role requires a balance of technical depth, organizational leadership, and client communication , ensuring all projects meet schedule, budget, and quality objectives in compliance with ISO 13485.

You will provide both strategic and technical leadership across embedded software, electrical, and mechanical design; requirements definition; architecture; integration; and verification / validation testing.

This is a full-time, on-site position at our Northbrook, Illinois facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a 2030 person engineering organization across multiple disciplines and projects.
• Plan, organize, and oversee concurrent design and development activities for regulated and non-regulated products.
• Provide technical direction on embedded software, electronics, and mechanical systems through all development phases.
• Ensure design control and documentation are maintained per ISO 13485 and IEC 60601-1 requirements.
• Support preparation and submission of FDA 510(k) / PMA and EU MDR documentation.
• Implement and refine engineering processes and tools to improve efficiency and compliance.
• Interface directly with clients and executive management to report project status and technical progress.
