Systems Safety & Software Safety Engineer (Entry-Level, Associate, or Mid-Level) – Application via WayUp. The Boeing Company, Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has multiple opportunities for Systems Safety Engineers & Software Safety Engineers across various Phantom Works / Air Dominance programs in Hazelwood or Berkeley, MO. The team is hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Entry Level, Associate, and Mid-Level. This role involves providing technical guidance and performing critical System Safety or Software Safety Engineering work, including planning, coordinating, and performing detailed System Safety tasks to mitigate potential product safety hazards. Collaboration with design, development, and test personnel is expected to impart safety requirements early in the design process.
Position Responsibilities
- Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions
- Perform various analyses and integration activities to optimize total system of systems architecture for Software Safety
- Identify, analyze, and assess regulatory and / or contractual compliance of aerospace systems, products and services against development and design assurance standards (MIL-STD-882E, JSSEH, DO-178, DO-254) to provide hazard mitigation evidence
- Analyze software to identify potential failure conditions or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns
- Identify safety issue systemic root causes and recommend corrective actions using industry best practices (MIL STD-882E)
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety requirements
- Verify that the system meets or exceeds defined safety requirements by conducting safety analyses, audits, and reviews
- Demonstrate safety hazard risk mitigation and control methods to the customer and regulators
- Resolve multi-functional technical issues
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience)
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer sciencePreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience)
