Director of Accounting IT / AV Industry
The Director of Accounting in a technology-driven organization is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring financial integrity, and driving process innovation. This role requires deep expertise in accounting principles, a strong grasp of technology trends, and the ability to adapt to the rapid pace and complexity of the IT and AV sectors.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting :
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable / receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Develop and maintain robust financial reporting systems tailored to the needs of a tech company, including SaaS revenue recognition, subscription billing, and deferred revenue management.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, and budgets, providing actionable insights for senior management.
Process Optimization & Automation :
Drive continuous improvement by leveraging technology to automate workflows and consolidate disparate software systems.Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.Collaborate with IT teams to integrate accounting platforms with other business systems (ERP, CRM, etc.) for seamless data flow and reporting.Compliance & Audit :
Ensure adherence to GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements.Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and address findings.Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including software licensing and data privacy laws.Strategic Planning & Decision Support :
Partner with senior leadership to develop and review budgets, financial forecasts, and strategic plans.Analyze financial data to support decision-making for product launches, M&A, and capital investments.Provide financial guidance on pricing strategies, cost tracking for IT and AV techs, and risk management.Team Leadership & Development :
Recruit, train, and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.Set SMART goals for team members and evaluate performance.Encourage professional development, including IT-specific accounting certifications and ongoing training.Education and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required; Masters degree preferred.CPA or CMA preferred.Five plus years of progressive accounting experience, with three years in a leadership role, preferably within the IT or technology sector.Expertise in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Proven ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Experience with SaaS, subscription models, and IT-specific revenue recognition is highly desirable.Ability to lead process automation and system integration.Familiarity with cybersecurity, data privacy and software licensing compliance helpful.
