Electrical Technician
The City of Bremerton offers a job opportunity for an Electrical Technician with a salary range of $39.19 to $48.09 hourly. The position is located in Bremerton, WA and is classified as a regular full-time job. The job number is 2025-00046 and is part of the Public Works and Utilities department under the Utility Operations division.
The responsibilities of the Electrical Technician include planning, designing, installing, and maintaining electrical distribution systems, process control, motor control systems, generators, and boilers. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining and repairing all electrical equipment throughout city facilities including wastewater treatment plants, remote lift stations, odor control stations, water, SCADA fiber optic cable, security systems, traffic signals, street lighting, fire alarm systems, city vehicles, police vehicles, and fire vehicles.
The duties also include installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing traffic signals, warning flashers, school flashers, electrical systems, ventilation controls, motors, outlets, and lighting; street luminaries; vehicles electrical including VHF radios, cell phones, responders, sirens, alarms; maintaining the State Ferry Tunnel system; coordinating and setting up power requirements for festivals, parades, concerts, and public gatherings; locating underground utilities; and performing janitorial duties at wastewater treatment plants, ESTP, lift stations, and odor control stations.
The Electrical Technician must have knowledge of electrical rules and regulations, basic computer skills, frequency drives, programmable logic controllers, AC pump control, and GIS software. The ability to work on energized systems, use energized electricity, work in confined spaces, and communicate both orally and in writing are also required. The technician must be skilled in operating a boom and crane truck, reading and understanding blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals, and getting along with others as an effective team member.
Qualifying education and experience include a high school diploma or G.E.D. and four years of experience as an electrician, completion of a 4-year Electrical apprenticeship with a Washington Journeyman Electrical License EL-01, and a valid Washington State driver's license. Special requirements may include CPR and first aid certification, confined space entry certification, flagger certification, forklift operator certification, commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement, and other certifications depending on the assignment.
