Lead Project Engineer – New Product Development
Eaton's Aerospace division is seeking a Lead Project Engineer – New Product Development to join our team at the Los Angeles, CA facility. The role focuses on developing designs for hydraulic actuation devices and related products for military and commercial platforms.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $107,812.53 - $158,125.04. Salary is dependent upon candidate skillset, education, and work experience.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical design, analysis, and guidance for new product development and product improvements, making decisions on behalf of Mechanical Engineering.
- Collaborate with integrated product teams (IPTs) to design, analyze, and implement product designs across all phases of the product lifecycle.
- Lead problem-solving efforts for design, inspection, manufacturing, and test issues encountered by vendors and operational personnel.
- Plan, organize, and lead multiple simultaneous projects, controlling schedules and budgets while communicating status to engineering leadership.
- Resolve program scope changes with Project Engineering and Program Management.
- Serve as primary technical contact for cross-functional teams, presenting design data and recommendations to customers and management.
- Create and maintain design standards, technical drawings, test procedures, and review material following ASME Y14.5 and Y14.34.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to co-workers, directing other engineers on project teams.
- Ensure standardization of design across projects and support continuous improvement of processes.
- Collaborate with peers to determine key goals, objectives, and metrics, reviewing and amending actions as appropriate.
- Interpret engineering documents and coordinate creation and update of engineering documents.
- Lead studies and improvements for cost reduction and first-time yield.
- Lead root-cause and corrective action investigations, providing engineering input and technical expertise for failure investigations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.Minimum five (5) years of Project Engineering experience, including design using 3-D CAD in the aerospace / hydraulic / vehicle industry; or a Master's degree with at least two (2) years of similar experience.Minimum two (2) years of experience designing hydraulic or pneumatic flow-control or actuation products.Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.Access to export-controlled information : applicant must be a U.S. person (citizen, green card holder, refugee, or asylee).Residence within 50 miles of the 90039 Los Angeles zip code (active duty military exempt).Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree accredited by ABET.Experience leading an integrated product team with design services, analysis, and related work.Experience in the aerospace industry.Experience with Pro / Engineer, Enovia PLM, or similar 3-D design and lifecycle management tools.Experience designing hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical products using advanced manufacturing techniques and transitioning to production.Proficiency applying Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and performing tolerance stack-up analysis.Proficiency performing basic structural and / or performance analysis.Working knowledge of DFSS, DFm, FMEA, DOE, and RCCA principles.Position Skillset
