Position Overview
We are seeking a Controls Engineer experienced in automation and manufacturing systems to support Error Proofing Platform (EPP). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial control systems, PLC programming, and manufacturing process validation. EPP experience is a must—candidates without it will be screened accordingly during the interview process.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and integrate Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 PLCs for EPP-controlled stations.
- Configure, deploy, and validate EPP / SEP applications within GM's GCCS-2 framework.
- Develop and maintain logic for error detection, task validation, and redundancy (Main / Backup / Alternate Tools).
- Interface with SQL Server, Rockwell RSLinx, and GE Fanuc CIMPLICITY HMI for data handling and visualization.
- Support cell controllers, I / O devices, and operator interfaces (light stacks, bypass / release keys, etc.).
- Troubleshoot system faults, perform runtime simulations, and ensure compliance with GM EPP standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, IT, and quality teams to maintain robust automation and production quality.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent).2–5+ years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation.Strong background in PLC logic development (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Studio 5000).Experience with networked control systems, Ethernet I / O mapping, and IO-Link.Proven understanding of EPP / SEP or similar error-proofing automation systems.Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with General Motors EPP systems.Familiarity with GCCS-2 and manufacturing execution systems (MES).Experience with SQL database integration, CIMPLICITY HMI, or RSLinx communications.Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.Seniority level
