Supplier Quality Engineer

ABOUT THE COMPANY
A U.S.-based aerospace propulsion manufacturer developing small turbojet engines for defense and unmanned systems. The company is expanding a high-volume production facility in the Southeast U.S., supporting next-generation propulsion technologies that power advanced military platforms.
THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY
The Supplier Quality Engineer will lead supplier auditing, qualification, and development across a growing North American supplier base. This role requires a hands-on quality professional who can apply engineering fundamentals to supplier processes, ensuring components meet exacting aerospace requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supplier Qualification & Oversight
- Conduct AS9100 and ISO 9001 supplier audits, ensuring process capability and compliance.
- Lead supplier qualification, FAI / PPAP submissions, and component approvals.
- Evaluate manufacturing process capability with a focus on CNC machining, datum structures, and GD&T conformance.
- Maintain and continuously improve the approved supplier list.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
Develop supplier quality plans and manage NCRs, CARs, and 8D reports.Perform root-cause and corrective action analysis for recurring supplier issues.Support supplier development programs to improve yield, cost, and delivery performance.Track supplier performance metrics and drive improvement through measurable KPIs.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams to ensure quality is built into new product designs.Support internal audits and assist in maintaining AS9100 certifications.Provide technical guidance to suppliers on machining tolerances, datum structures, and process validation.Quality Management System
Support the internal QMS with documentation, audits, and registrar certification.Ensure adherence to all regulatory and customer-specific quality requirements.Maintain quality records, reports, and supplier history files.BACKGROUND PROFILE
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering.7+ years of supplier quality experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing.Deep understanding of CNC machining, datums, and GD&T.Proven experience with AS9100 / ISO 9001, FAI, PPAP, and advanced quality tools (FMEA, SPC, 8D, Six Sigma).Strong communication and relationship-building skills across suppliers and internal teams.U.S. Citizenship required.Up to 40% travel (domestic)WHAT SETS YOU APART
