Our client in the Lower Fairfield, CT area has an opening for an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will be pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient management of accounting processes. As part of a long-term contract, you will play a key role in supervising financial activities and supporting the Managing Director with comprehensive financial insights.
Responsibilities :
- Manage the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations.
- Coordinate the year-end audit process, ensuring all required documentation is prepared and accurate.
- Oversee project cost accounting and budgeting, ensuring timely and accurate monthly invoicing.
- Supervise accounts receivable activities, including follow-ups and initiating collections as needed.
- Handle annual surveys and compliance requirements, such as those for the Department of Labor.
- Monitor payroll processes, ensuring bi-weekly payroll and quarterly reports are accurate and complete.
- Assist with annual business insurance renewals and vendor negotiations for contract renewals.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws by collaborating with human resources and maintaining corporate standards.
- Provide guidance and supervision to entry-level accounting staff, fostering their growth and attention to detail.
- Liaise with external tax accountants and other vendors to ensure smooth operations and compliance.

Proficiency in accounting software such as Unanet or Deltek is highly beneficial.Strong knowledge of general accounting practices, including month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.Familiarity with financial statement audits and quarter-end reporting.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple priorities effectively.Ability to work on-site three days a week and remotely for two days.Strong understanding of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and project lifecycles.
