Overview
The Workers’ Compensation Specialist is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of workers’ compensation claims—from initial incident reporting through resolution and closure. This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, facilitates communication among stakeholders, and supports risk mitigation strategies to promote a safe and productive workplace.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Risk Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in workers’ compensation claims handling or risk management.
- Proficiency with claims tracking systems such as RiskTrack, Origami, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and occupational injury classifications.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.

Claims Management
Manage all phases of workers’ compensation claims including intake, investigation, documentation, and resolution.Ensure timely and accurate reporting of workplace injuries using internal systems and external platforms (e.g., RiskTrack).Collaborate with third-party administrators, healthcare providers, and legal counsel to ensure effective claims handling.Compliance & Documentation
Maintain compliance with OSHA, ADA, FMLA, HIPAA, and state-specific workers’ compensation laws.Prepare and submit required reports (e.g., OSHA logs, First Report of Injury, Public Self Insurers reports).Audit claims data and vendor performance to ensure accuracy and cost control.Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, and external partners regarding claim status and next steps.Facilitate return-to-work programs and accommodations in partnership with HR and Safety teams.Risk Mitigation & Analysis
Analyze claims trends to identify high-risk roles and recommend adjustments or safety interventions.Support the development and implementation of workplace safety programs and training initiatives.
