Payroll Support Specialist
Supporting approximately 1,300 salary and hourly staff, this position requires strong people skills and a high level of confidentiality. It plays an important role in the overall processing and accuracy of hours for payroll. This is a heavy customer service role and requires active participation with all staff and vendors for various payroll-related inquiries. Requires basic knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, human resources and benefits for accurate processing.
Principal Responsibilities
- Monitoring and replying to staff inquiries in Payroll Inbox, Slack, HRtriage, walk-ins and phone calls for missed hours, pay, time off requests, vacation balance, direct deposits, W-2s, system issues, etc.
- Processing all Employment Verifications for mortgage loans, legal inquiries, government agencies, etc.
- Meeting and communicating with the HR and Benefits teams for adjustments or entries affecting the upcoming payroll period
- Research various Cost Center expenses and Payroll inquiries
- Process Child Support and Garnishment court orders
- Review and calculate all hours in the system each period
- Run reports and verify data for accurate payroll processing
- Work with timecard approvers to make sure time punches are entered and approved timely
- Support the Paycom payroll process (hours, new hires, terms, updates)
- Calculate and prepare check requests for terminated staff
- Update Payroll Notes for manual entries needed for the upcoming period
- Assist with various payroll projects and yearend processes
- Cross train as backup for Payroll Accountant
- Continued research and training for personal development and to help streamline processes and procedures
- Update and maintain various Excel spreadsheets
- Support and train employees on payroll processes / timecards / systems
- Administer timecard adjustments, corrections and various pay modifications
