A prominent and fast-growth law firm in Chicago is seeking a Bankruptcy Legal Assistant to support its busy Restructuring and Bankruptcy practice group. You'll work closely with a team of attorneys who value precision, efficiency, and collaboration. Base pay range
$70,000.00 / yr - $98,000.00 / yr
Key responsibilities
- Draft, edit, redline, and proofread legal documents related to bankruptcy and restructuring, including pleadings, motions, stipulations, and court filings.
- Assist in preparing and formatting filings for state, federal, and bankruptcy courts.
- Manage case documentation, docket tracking, deadlines, and file organization.
- Conduct conflict checks and assist with matter intake and closure.
- Coordinate attorney calendars, travel arrangements, meetings, and expense reporting.
- Handle time entry and billing processes, including reviewing and editing proformas.
- Support litigation processes such as preparing motion binders, exhibits, and engagement letters.
- Communicate professionally with internal teams and external clients.
Qualifications
3+ years of bankruptcy legal assistant experience (Chapters 7 and 11 strongly preferred).Strong familiarity with legal document formats and court filing procedures.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), PDF software, and case management tools.Experience with tools like Chrome River, Aderant, or iManage is a plus.Excellent attention to detail, time management, and client service skills.Employment type
