Certified Welding Inspector
We are seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join a dynamic construction team on a major project in Lebanon, IN. This role involves a contract-to-hire opportunity, with an initial contract period of 6 months and potential for extension. The position requires full-time commitment, with shifts ranging from 8 to 10 hours per day, accumulating to 4050+ hours weekly.
Responsibilities
- Conduct visual inspections of structural steel welds in accordance with AWS D1.1 and project specifications.
- Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material compliance.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Monitor joint preparation, fit-up, and welding techniques.
- Perform or coordinate non-destructive testing (NDT) as needed.
- Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports.
- Communicate discrepancies and corrective actions to project stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and site-specific requirements.
Essential Skills
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is mandatory (ICC Structural Welding Special Inspector certification will be considered in place of CWI-AWS).Strong understanding of welding processes and welding inspections.Ability to read and interpret construction documents and welding symbols.Familiarity with AWS D1.1 and other relevant codes.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Current OSHA 10 certification is highly preferred; if not current, assistance will be provided to obtain it.Current CCS Card (Coalition of Construction Safety) is preferred; support will be provided to obtain if needed.Experience with structural steel inspection in large-scale construction projects.Knowledge of NDT methods and inspection tools.Work Environment
This position is part of a large-scale construction project for a prominent campus in Lebanon, IN. The work environment requires comfort with outdoor conditions and involves working collaboratively with onsite quality managers and construction teams to ensure safety and quality standards are upheld.

Pay and Benefits
