Lab Director Position

The Lab Director will support operations of five Allina Health hospital laboratories with regulatory, staffing, system, and site projects. The assigned hospital campuses are Mercy (Coon Rapids), Unity (Fridley), St. Francis (Shakopee), Buffalo, and Cambridge.

Provides leadership and oversight for the overall operations and strategic direction of multiple laboratory sites and departments that support the laboratory mission. Accountable for developing and managing budgets, meeting hospital service levels, meeting regulatory requirements, and providing an environment that fosters employee engagement. Principle responsibilities include :

• Providing leadership, development, and coordination of system-wide laboratory operational strategies.
• Directing, monitoring, and overseeing implementation of process improvements to meet or enhance quality and service goals of business unit(s) and hospital(s).
• Taking accountability and resolving next level escalation on customer service issues.
• Serving on interdisciplinary committees to plan and implement system initiatives.
• Managing employees and holding them accountable for role responsibilities, competencies, individual performance, and goals.
• Supporting the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding process.
• Conducting ongoing coaching, assessment, training, and education of staff.
• Completing and conducting employee performance reviews.
• Responsible for engagement of employees and contributing to annual department-wide engagement plan.
• Developing and implementing operations budgets for assigned cost centers.
• Actively monitoring lab system financial, volume, and productivity data, and collaboratively implementing tactics to meet or exceed targets.
• Implementing cost reduction opportunities when identified.
• Providing recommendations for the capital budget.
• Ensuring compliance with all federal regulations including the College of American Pathologists, Occupational Safety & Health Administration, Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
• Developing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures in collaboration with key laboratory stakeholders.

Physical demands :

Pay range : $59.75 to $82.67 per hour. The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience and education. Additional incentives may be available, including discretionary monetary bonuses, goal-based bonuses, and other financial incentives.
