About the Role
Were seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instructional support and services to students with visual impairments. The TVI will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure that each student has access to the curriculum and the tools needed to thrive academically and independently.
Responsibilities
Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across various grade levels.
Adapt and modify classroom materials for accessibility (Braille, large print, tactile graphics, digital formats).
Teach students compensatory skills including braille literacy, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility concepts.
Collaborate with IEP teams to develop and implement individualized education plans.
Conduct assessments to determine appropriate learning media and technology needs.
Provide guidance and training to general education teachers and paraprofessionals on best practices for supporting visually impaired students.
Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Special Education or related field.
Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in the state of [State].
Experience with Braille instruction and assistive technology preferred.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
