Tax Assessor / Collector
Reporting directly to a designated Tax Manager, responsible for processing tax related transactions and providing customer service to the general public. May be assigned to either Information Services or Property Tax divisions.
Examples of Work Performed :
Information Services Assignment :
- Answers and directs telephone and email inquiries for all Williamson County tax office locations
- Provides information and updates to customers regarding statutes and tax laws relating to motor vehicle and property tax
- Serves as the first point of contact for tax office telephone and email customers
- Processes debit and credit card payments for property tax and motor vehicle customers
- Refers unresolved matters to the appropriate staff members
- Utilizes available tools to research and resolve customer inquiries
- Serves as liaison between customers and internal departments
- Cross trains on property tax and motor vehicle responsibilities
- Logs and notifies customers when specialty plates arrive
- Adheres to Information Services call center standards and procedures
- Attends all meetings and training, as required
- Performs special duties as assigned
Property Tax Assignment :
Processes property tax transactions and general provides customer serviceResolves inquiries from the public regarding property tax mattersPrepares daily cash, credit card, and check deposits in compliance with cash handling processes and proceduresPrepares and issues tax certificatesProcesses mail and walk-in motor vehicle registration renewalsProcesses and prepares mail to scan to the remittance processorServes as a point of contact for mortgage companies requesting tax statements and prepares necessary information to be sent for further processingResearches and processes returned mail including updating the Williamson Central Appraisal District of new informationProcesses ownership changes and produces invoices when necessaryMaintain historical records using records retention guidelinesTake phone calls during high call volume and for escalated issuesAssists with over sixty-five (65) and disability tax exemptionsPerforms registration renewals during high customer trafficAttends all meetings and training, as requiredPerforms special duties as assignedOrganization Relationships :

Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalentTwo (2) years of experience in customer service and cash handling in a fast-paced environmentTwo (2) years of basic computer navigation experienceLicenses and Certifications :

Tax Assessor-Collector Association of Texas (TACA) Professional County Collector (PCC) CertificationPreferred Qualifications :
