Summary :
This position is responsible for directing the operational activities of the Patient Transport and Equipment Cleaning Departments within Maine Medical Center. Leads and directs all activities necessary for regulatory compliance including but not limited to : The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medical Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and State Health Department (DHS) through the Infection Control and Prevention standards. Responsible for development and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure compliance and competencies in the sanitation of clinical equipment (i.e. pump). Oversees the safe transport of equipment and patients within the hospital by the development of policy and procedures, compliance to safe patient handling, and regulatory compliance to TJC and CMS. Creates comprehensive programs that manage the responsibilities of the departments in three facility campuses, including the allocation of human resources, training resources, equipment and use of purchased external resources. Implements quality assurance programs to measure effectiveness of the sanitation program by the reduction of hospital acquired infections (AHI) and patient perception as measured by HCAHPS. Continually evaluates existing programs, policies and procedures in areas related to the care environment and patient transport to revise and / or develop and implement new policies and procedures to assure the organization is in consistent and satisfactory compliance.Manages significantly large annual budget which includes a span of control of approximately 70+staff.
