Summary :

This position is responsible for directing the operational activities of the Patient Transport and Equipment Cleaning Departments within Maine Medical Center. Leads and directs all activities necessary for regulatory compliance including but not limited to : The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medical Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and State Health Department (DHS) through the Infection Control and Prevention standards. Responsible for development and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure compliance and competencies in the sanitation of clinical equipment (i.e. pump). Oversees the safe transport of equipment and patients within the hospital by the development of policy and procedures, compliance to safe patient handling, and regulatory compliance to TJC and CMS. Creates comprehensive programs that manage the responsibilities of the departments in three facility campuses, including the allocation of human resources, training resources, equipment and use of purchased external resources. Implements quality assurance programs to measure effectiveness of the sanitation program by the reduction of hospital acquired infections (AHI) and patient perception as measured by HCAHPS. Continually evaluates existing programs, policies and procedures in areas related to the care environment and patient transport to revise and / or develop and implement new policies and procedures to assure the organization is in consistent and satisfactory compliance.Manages significantly large annual budget which includes a span of control of approximately 70+staff.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Education : Bachelor'sdegreeinbusinessadministration,healthadministration,oracloselyrelatedfieldfromanaccreditedcollegeoruniversityrequired. Master's degree preferred.
• License / Certification : Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) required within 12 months of hire.
• Experience : Ten (10) years or greater of progressively responsible leadership experience, preferably in healthcare setting. Other combinations of education and experience shall be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Additional Skills / Requirements Required : Leadership skills and experience supervising managers and supervisors working with a large staff of 50+, and experience in managing multiple services is preferred. Experience and knowledge to support the hospital on the Infection Control, Value Analysis, Environment of Care, Emergency Preparedness and Patient Experience Committees. Knowledge and experience regarding professional cleaning processes and techniques, chemicals and equipment used in a large healthcare facility. Knowledge and experience regarding patient movement / transport, customer service, patient equipment management, and patient safety
