As a specialist, you will provide pharmaceutical services to patients in our Perioperative Services department! In this role, you will be able to provide pharmaceutical expertise, enhance medication use workflows and optimize the value, safety, and quality of patient care throughout the surgical continuum. Additionally, you will closely collaborate with multiple departments including the Departments of Anesthesiology, Surgery, Perioperative Services and Pharmacy. The pharmacy at Barnes-Jewish uses an integrated practice model with more unit-based positions. Here, department staff has access to a number of drug information resources, including many online references accessible from department computers. An on-site drug information center provides support for more in-depth questions. Preferred QualificationsRole PurposeEvaluates and recommends appropriate drug therapy to achieve optimal cost-effective patient outcomes, by working directly with physicians, other health professionals, and patients. Participates in the development, provision and evaluation of comprehensive pharmaceutical care and quality assurance programs through scholarly activities. Serves as a resource to the pharmacy staff and other hospital departments. ResponsibilitiesAssess the overall status of the patient's health condition and evaluates medication profile for optimal patient outcomes. Monitors therapy and goals of care.
