Goodhue County Health & Human Services is seeking qualified applicants for an Eligibility Worker.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks related to the determination of eligibility of clients for income maintenance programs such as Food Support, Medical Assistance and Cash Programs.
• Interviews clients to obtain necessary factual information and verify information received from clients.
• Explains application procedures to individual(s) and answers questions on how to complete the application forms for income maintenance programs.
• Determines eligibility for and amount of benefits for a variety of public assistance programs, including cash, food and medical.
• Informs clients of their rights and method of appeal and other legal rights.
• Makes referrals to Social Services and other community resources, when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma plus 2 years of study at a 2 or 4-year College with emphasis in the Behavioral Sciences or Business. OR Two (2) years of clerical experience in a County Health & Human Services Agency, OR 3 years of clerical experience elsewhere may be substituted for the 2 years of post-high school education.

Compensation / Benefits

County employees receive competitive pay and a generous benefit offering. The Eligibility Worker is compensated at salary grade 109 ($59,404.80 - $92,102.40) and starting annual compensation is $59,404.80.
