Senior Cost Accounting Manager
Summary
This role will have direct interaction and manage projects within manufacturing operations and Supply Chain. This position is responsible for preparing standard cost reports, determining manufacturing variances, checking bills of material for standard costs, assisting with new product costing, assisting with month-end close and reporting, and communicating with management any opportunities that may arise.
Essential Functions
- Prepare monthly financial information utilizing the applicable support systems. Duties include preparing journal entries, entering inventory A / P accruals, reconciling the balance sheet and analyzing variances.
- Assist with month-end closing including reconciliation of perpetual inventories to the general ledger.
- Track daily work items assigned in D365.
- Investigate and report on inventory adjustments.
- Support cost roll as needed and new product costing.
- Assist Cost Director with annual budget process and annual physical inventories.
- Support internal customers by researching questions and investigating variances on the financial statements
- Ensure proper retention, filing, and handling of accounting records
- Prepare other reports and assist in special projects and analysis as required or requested by the manager.
- Performs ad-hoc and cross-functional projects as assigned to support business needs and provide developmental opportunities.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required7+ years of either cost accounting experience or accounting experience in a manufacturing environment requiredExperience managing projects and building relationships with other departments requiredExperience working in a fast-paced environment requiredExperience working in Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical companies preferredERP experience required (Microsoft Dynamic 365 preferred)Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Must have cost accounting background or willingness to learn and a strong understanding of GAAP.Excellent communication skills.Contribute to the environment of openness and teamwork.Pay
$145,000 – $165,000Working Environment / Physical Environment
This position will work hybrid in either Los Angeles or San Diego, depending on candidate’s residenceThis position will need to travel to headquarters as needed, minimum quarterly.This position will interact on-site with manufacturing, supply chain and quality team members.Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
