Lead Assistant General Counsel

Our client, a leading electric and natural gas utility serving customers across eight Western and Midwestern states, is seeking a Lead Assistant General Counsel. This senior legal role will be based in Texas or New Mexico.

What you’ll do :

  • Provide leadership and counsel to management on legal, business, legislation, regulation, and strategic matters
  • Prepare contracts, agreements, and other documents for business transactions
  • Represent the company before courts, regulatory agencies, and other adjudicatory proceedings
  • Manage and mentor a team of attorneys, serving as a primary legal contact for business areas

    • What you will need :

  • D. from an ABA-accredited law school; licensed to practice in the state of hire
  • At least 10 years of legal experience in a corporate law department, law firm, government, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Preferred : background in the utility industry or other heavily regulated sectors
