SUMMARY : The Supplier Quality Manager, under limited supervision, will perform a variety of duties related to the approval of suppliers for ingredients, resale finished products and packaging to maintain the Supplier Management Program and other related assignments as requested. Must demonstrate drive for results, strong analytical thinking, creativity, multi-tasking proficiency, self-motivation, collaborative mindset, good business acumen and attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Supplier Quality Manager oversees and directs the Supplier Management Program in maintaining safe and quality foods, while driving continuous improvement to exceed the expectations outlined in the Food Safety Modernization Act and our own internal policies.The Supplier Quality Manager ensures flawless execution of supplier verification activities and management of relationships to drive on-going compliance with internal and external partners by proposing and implementing solutions.Is directly responsible for the process for the Qualification of New Suppliers, including but not limited to risk assessments, hazard analysis evaluations, specification approval, testing requirements, and validation of food safety documents.On-going management of suppliers, including annual document review, change notifications, and review of non-conformances. Trend performance of suppliers.Facilitates the resolution of complex quality issues including corrective actions and overseeing vendor disqualification processes with Procurement.Provides guidance, direction and training to cross-functional team on all supplier quality program requirements and systems.Builds relationships and educates internal / external business partners to drive program compliance.Work with procurement / R&D to qualify new suppliers / ingredients / packaging.Work with procurement to qualify copackers.Work with plants to ensure they have all required ingredient documents for the finished products they are manufacturing.Work with plants to maintain GFSI compliance and participate in 3rd party audits.Create vendor audit schedule and perform vendor audits based off of schedule based on risk and / or quality issues requiring an audit.Create and maintain Supplier Quality Procedures / Forms and ensure compliance to GFSI Standard.Participate in cross functional teams to conduct risk assessments / vulnerability assessments.Manage supplier recalls.Assist with monitoring of regulatory trends that may impact suppliers.Adheres to manufacturing best practices, GMPs, etc.Treats all customers (both internal and external) with dignity, respect, courtesy and kindness.Responds to all customer inquiries and requests to insure customer satisfaction.Treats all with dignity, respect, courtesy, and kindness.Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety rules as stated in the Employee Handbook and otherwise posted or communicated.Exemplify the BakeMark core values of Partnership, Performance, Passion, and Initiative in all aspects of assigned duties.Other duties as assigned to meet Company goals.QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum five to ten years of experience in quality and food safety within the food industry.Bachelor's Degree in Science / Engineering, preferably Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related scientific field.Ability to represent the company needs when collaborating with suppliers, contract manufacturers, regulatory agencies, and other departments.Knowledge of GFSI, HACCP, Food Safety Management, FDA Regulations and the Food Safety Modernization Act.PCQI preferredExcellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple priorities and strong attention to detail. Computer skills including MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbal / writing) effectively. Self-motivated and strong analytical / problem solving skills. Ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization and across other functional areas.EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS.) from four-year College or university and at least 10 years of increasing responsibility in Food R&D.
SUPERVISION :
Supervises degreed and non-degreed technical staff.
