The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the electronic design and development of Ortec brand nuclear instrumentation and measurement systems used for radiation detection and radioisotope identification. This role focuses on board-level circuit design with an emphasis on FPGA programming and system integration. The engineer will collaborate across teams to align product specifications with market needs, support manufacturing and customer service, and drive innovation in low-noise electronics. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
Technical Mastery
- Design and implement FPGA solutions using Verilog and / or VHDL, including simulation and validation.
- Develop low-noise analog and digital electronics for nuclear measurement systems.
- Execute feasibility studies, prototyping, PCB bring-up, debugging, and performance characterization.
- Integrate system-level software and hardware, including microprocessors and digital signal processing.
- Apply advanced design techniques for amplifiers, filters, power supplies, and A / D converters.
Systems Execution
Support compliance testing and documentation for new designs.Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing and Customer Service teams.Ensure successful system-level integration and validation of new products.Collaborate with Marketing to align product design with performance specifications and market requirements.Innovation & Adaptability

Education & Experience
BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience required.Five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant experience in FPGA and board-level design.Technical Requirements
Proficiency in FPGA design and simulation tools (e.g., Modelsim).Experience with digital and mixed-signal circuit design.Familiarity with system-level integration and nuclear instrumentation.Soft Skills
