Job Title : Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Location : Lawrence, KS

Job Type : Full-Time | On-Site

Summary : A leading manufacturer in the building materials industry is seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join its team in Lawrence, KS. This role is ideal for a sourcing professional with strong project management skills, a strategic mindset, and a passion for optimizing supply chains. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with business goals and drive value across the organization.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for key categories and commodities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and establish strategic partnerships with suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and master purchase agreements.
  • Lead sourcing projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Marketing.
  • Support product development and value engineering initiatives.
  • Analyze total cost of ownership and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Partner with Supplier Development and Quality teams to ensure supplier performance.
  • Drive digitization efforts within the supply chain.
  • Lead complex make-versus-buy analyses and VA / VE projects.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field with demonstrated technical aptitude).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sourcing, category management, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Experience with ERP / MRP systems and sourcing processes.
  • Knowledge of materials such as steel, aluminum, glass, chemicals, and roll-formed components is a plus.
  • Professional certification (or willingness to pursue within 3 years).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed, team-oriented environment.
