Compassionate Companion at end of life

Miller Hospice is looking for kind, compassionate people who are comfortable being with patients as they pass from this life to be 'vigil volunteers' or 'compassionate companions'. Some patients have no family and are facing dying alone. We want to be available especially for them.

Obviously, time committment is flexible so you would need to be able to be called upon with short notice and be able to spend 2-4hrs at a time. As always, we would work with the schedule you provide us. If this work interests you, contact us. Training and support will be provided to help you understand the dying process and become comfortable supporting the patient as well as the family.

Actual work will be done wherever the patient resides; home, nursing facility, hospital etc. You will always be allowed to decline.
