Custodial Maintenance Supervisor
Lead and inspire a team dedicated to maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming facilities for the City of Richmond! Our Public Works department is looking for a Custodial Maintenance Supervisor to oversee and coordinate custodial staff, manage cleaning operations, and ensure City-owned facilities are well-maintained and operating efficiently. If you have experience in custodial services, staff supervision, and safety procedures, this is an excellent opportunity to lead a team and keep our buildings running smoothly. The Custodial Maintenance Supervisor plans, assigns, supervises, and inspects the work of a shift of utility workers involved in the cleaning, maintenance, and general housekeeping operations in City-owned, maintained, or occupied buildings. Annual salary for this classification is as high as $100,980.40 at the top of the range. The Custodial Maintenance Supervisor plans and manages all utility staff and activities. In addition to assigning work in the most effective manner, incumbents inspect work during a shift to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of work performed. Incumbents also provide input into the use and procurement of equipment and supplies. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, a thorough understanding of cleaning procedures and equipment, experience managing a team, a focus on safety protocols, and the ability to maintain quality standards while adhering to budget constraints, with prior custodial experience and demonstrated problem-solving skills.

Qualifying Phase : All completed applications will be evaluated based on job-related qualification criteria, which could include desirable qualifications and the specific needs of the hiring department(s). Oral Examination : A limited number of better-qualified candidates will be asked to participate in an oral panel interview (weighted 100%) to assess a candidate's job-related knowledge, ability to follow instructions, and other areas as they pertain to the position. An Employment List will be established, and each candidate must have a passing score in order to be placed on the list. Having all of the minimum qualifications guarantees neither advancement nor placement on the Employment List.
Employment Eligibility List : A ranking of "A" (Best Qualified), "B" (Well Qualified), or "C" (Qualified) is required to achieve a position on the Employment Eligibility List. This List will be in effect for a maximum of two (2) years; however, the list may be canceled, without notice, after six (6) months.
