Medical Assistant
Under direct supervision and within an established scope of practice, assists the provider with examinations, treatments, and special procedures of patients as directed by San Ysidro Health policies and procedures in a medical office or clinic setting.
Essential Functions of The Job :
Upholds San Ysidro Health's Policies and Procedures, Core Values and competencies and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
Performs routine patient care functions as prescribed by licensed health care providers following established clinical protocols and policies and procedures within defined scope of education, training, and responsibilities. Assists assigned physician(s) and / or other health care professional(s).

Job Requirements :
Education Required : High School diploma or GED preferred. Completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California.
Certifications Required : Current BLS for Healthcare Provider awarded by American Heart Association. NHA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and NHA- Certified Medical Administration Assistant Certification (CMAA).
Experience Required (Minimum level of experience) : Completion of externship required by Medical Assisting Program. Minimum 1 year working as a medical assistant.
Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job : Bilingual in Spanish, Tagalog, or Arabic language preferred. Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical information and terminology. Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.
Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job : Demonstrated ability to use computer and Electronic medical records. Demonstrated ability to use wheelchair, EKG, gurney table, vital machine, pulse oximeter, autoclave.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements : Continuous standing / walking / twisting. Occasionally lifts, pushes, and / or transfers patients. Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, and illness). Ability to work a varied, 40 hours per week schedule to include evenings and / or weekends, between the hours of 8 AM to PM. Reliable transportation necessary for occasional traveling to assist with providing coverage at SYH clinics within San Diego County.
Universal Requirements : Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs. Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.
