Qualifications
Experience Required : Two to three years of Medical Office experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Must be bilingual in Spanish.
Testing Requires successful completion of the Language Resource Assistant (LRA) test at a General level. LRA is a language assessment test that demonstrates written and oral interpretation / translation technique skills. Test will be administered if selected.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Assists in the effective leadership of day-to-day business services for assigned clinic in a manner that supports high-quality services and satisfaction. Prepares monthly schedule at least two weeks prior to beginning of new month. Evaluates, approves and communicates approval or disapproval of combo requests within one week of request when possible. Assists in ensuring that all business services staff is trained and knowledgeable in Kaweah Health policies and practices and operate in a manner consistent with the standards of the Kaweah Health's Patient Accounting, Medical Records and Patient Access Departments. Develops and maintains knowledge in rural health clinic regulations and policies at the State and Federal level relative to reimbursement, licensing, and other related matters. Assists Management in revising and updating Clinic Policy and Procedure Manual for assigned areas as needed. All new or revised Policies and procedures are communicated to staff in a timely manner. Completes special projects as assigned. Shows initiative and organizational understanding by developing new ideas or projects that promote goals and Kaweah Health objectives. All projects are completed accurately and timely. Apprises Manager of the progress of outstanding projects. Performs standard clerical duties, including sorting of mail, answering telephones, returning calls, maintaining files, copying and mailing correspondence. Able to operate all office equipment. Schedules appointments for the department. Orders supplies and handle related paperwork. Schedules appointments following department procedures. Answers telephone, screens and refers calls, takes messages. Responds to routine requests for information. Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. Checks-in patients, verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record or computer system. Ensures proper client intake at front desk. Required to research information needed to complete billing process. Determines client payment status, i.e., Medi-Cal, Insurance, Cash, etc. When necessary makes referral to benefit counselor. Collects co-pays, deductibles, etc. Provides receipts as required. Responsible to prepare bank deposits. Obtains, maintains and files medical record, coordinate lab work, physicians reports, x-rays, etc. Distributes medical reports as assigned. Enters appropriate information into medical record, adhering to medical record guidelines. Ensures that all documents have been reviewed and filed in medical record according to procedure. Responsible for gathering data, completing reports or forms for the department. Complies with confidentiality policies. Releases patient information per appropriately authorized requests. Coordinates internal and external phone communications among staff, patients and providers. Greets patients in person and on the phone, directs flow of patients and calls according to policy. Routes messages as needed to appropriate departments. Checks messages and responds in a timely manner. Collects and verifies demographic and insurance information from patient or family member. Enters data into the information system and updates patient files, according to policy. Ensures required authorizations are present on all patient documents. Provides information to patients regarding financial policies, registration requirements, etc. Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times. Adheres to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines. Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members. Demonstrates a commitment to service, hospital values and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, staff and the broader health care community. Additional Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay Range
$20.78 -$31.17
