Job Summary / Scope
The In-House Clinical Coordinators (IHC) primary function is dedicated to maximizing the donor gift, organ allocation, and fostering a learning atmosphere through education and communication of donation information. Organ recovery services are critical to the mission of ARORA. The responsibilities and duties of the are to assess potential organ donors and maximize the donors gift through donor management techniques. Additionally, understanding the flow of decision-making within the institution relates to donor activity to foster a learning and educational atmosphere is key. IHC requires proficient computer skills.
Essential Functions
Responds to referrals, rounding, case activity, etc. at designated or directed location(s).
Maintains high visibility within the hospital(s) by conducting rounds in designated areas.
Responsible for clear communication with hospital staff and physicians so that they have a clear understanding of the needs of the potential donor, the donor family, and ARORA.
In collaboration with transplant surgeons and professionals, the IHC shall conduct, monitor, and appropriately implement organ donor management protocols to ensure optimal organ function.
Utilizes clinical knowledge and judgment to administer appropriate interventions.
Responds appropriately to potential donor referrals and conducts a comprehensive, accurate assessment of the medical status of potential organ / tissue donors according to ARORA and USPHS guidelines.
Assists hospital staff to maximize organ, tissue, and eye donation through education about Best Practices, Clinical Triggers, etc.
Adhere to all ARORA SOPs to ensure compliance with UNOS, and CMS.
Performs initial assessment of potential donor and communicates appropriate information to the Administrator-on-Call, Director of Organ Recovery, and / or Medical Director.
Manages and facilitates ongoing communication with the health care team during the evaluation of referred potential organ donors.
Works in collaboration with ARORA staff and hospital personnel during referral and case activity to ensure the environment is optimum for maximizing donation potential.
Coordinates organ recovery with hospital staff, transplant teams, transplant support personnel and transplant surgeons. Examples include : scheduling, transportation, interventions and testing.
Completes all forms associated with an authorized donor. Documents all required UNOS data regarding organ donor demographics, donor management, medical / social history, organ allocation, surgical recovery / preservation and accurately notates organ anatomy.
Collaborate with hospital in following policies : brain death declaration, Donation after Circulatory Determination of Death (DCD) or transfer for a potential DCD. Facilitates and / or attends After- Action Review meetings with key hospital personnel.
Secondary Functions
Interacts with potential donor families in a manner that respects human dignity and shows reverence for life.
Facilitates and participates after action reviews for local donor cases.
Obtains and reviews hospital death records and reports information to appropriate ARORA staff and hospital staff.
Relied on as an expert resource within the donor hospital for organ donation.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with key donor hospital staff.
As needed, maintains high visibility within the hospital by conducting rounds in designated areas.

Completes and maintains appropriate documentation in a timely and thorough manner including activities. Examples include : training documentation, mileage, expenses, electronic schedule of ARORA events, and other forms.

Attendance at staff meetings, training programs, and / or in-services meetings, as required.

Demonstrates professional conduct and behavior reflective of ARORAs respect, honor, admiration and reverence for the donor and donor family.
Fosters effective relationships with client representatives.
With the approval of division Director, serves on national committees.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Repetitive Motion : While performing some essential functions of your position, you may be required to perform some functions repeatedly. When such tasks are not performed properly, injury can result.
Minimum Weightlifting Requirement : While performing some essential functions of your position, you may be required to do some lifting, moving, pushing, or pulling. When such tasks are not performed properly, injury can result. Must have the ability to lift minimum weight of 55 lbs.
Prolonged Sitting, Standing, and Bending : While performing some essential functions of your position, you may be required to sit, stand, or bend for an extended period of time. When such tasks are not performed properly, injury can result. Precautions and / or equipment should be used when performing this task.
Competency Evaluation : Competency evaluations are required for this position. Your supervisor will notify you when your evaluation is to be conducted.
Training : You may need additional training to better understand the performance requirements of your essential job functions. Training classes are available and can be requested and / or assigned. Your attendance at such classes is mandatory.
Work Environment
Works in various locations, including normal office environment, operating room, hospital environment, and other locations as essential and secondary functions necessitate.
Required to carry a cellular telephone for business purposes.
Frequent travel required by personal vehicle to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position.
May require travel by commercial or chartered aircraft.
Non-smoking office.
Work Hours
ARORA is a 24 / 7 operation and will require this position to work various shifts. Primarily this position will work 40 hours a week M-F.

Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements
Licensed respiratory therapist, registered nurse, BSN preferred with at least one-year critical care / ER experience is preferred.
Maintain a valid drivers license, reliable automobile, and proof of automobile insurance.
Must maintain required vaccination and / or health screenings to minimize the potential for disease transmission.
Consistent demonstration of attention to detail, precision, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
Possess strong prioritization skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks.
Ability to utilize general office equipment, software, and must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
