Mechanical Project Manager

About the Role :
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead and deliver complex mechanical engineering projects within the education, public works, water / wastewater, transportation, transit, government, and aviation sectors. The ideal candidate will be motivated to excel in a consulting engineering environment, embracing challenges as opportunities for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee and deliver all project objectives including planning, scope, schedule, budget, and quality assurance
- Lead and perform engineering calculations and assessments for mechanical system designs (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, industrial ductwork, refrigeration, hydronic systems, air handling, and central thermal plants)
- Conduct and lead field investigations, HVAC load studies, energy modeling, and code reviews
- Manage quality control for mechanical / plumbing design documents, including drawings and specifications
- Supervise and mentor junior engineering staff and review their design outputs
- Coordinate project designs with client specifications, and ensure compliance with local, city, and state codes including permitting processes
- Navigate and resolve complex design and construction challenges in collaboration with Owners, Architects, and Contractors
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, accounts receivable, and manpower requirements
- Develop and maintain project management plans, pricing, budgets, and schedules
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams including internal staff and external subconsultants
- Participate in client presentations, coordination, and business development efforts
- Provide leadership and continuous performance management to project team members
Must-Have Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET Accredited University programMinimum 12 years of specialized experience in mechanical engineering, specifically designing and specifying HVAC and plumbing systems of varying complexity and sizeProfessional Engineer (PE) LicenseProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteWorking knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and building load simulation software (preferably IESVE and Carrier HAP)Strong understanding and application of building, energy, mechanical, and plumbing codesAbility to pass the companys motor vehicle screeningExcellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skillsDemonstrated leadership and team management capabilitiesPreferred Qualifications :
Commissioning certifications such as CxA, BCxPProject management certifications such as CAPM or PMPExperience working with local, state, and federal clientsFamiliarity with multiple project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3)Experience managing multidisciplinary project teamsExperience in industrial mechanical / plumbing systems and fire protection designWorking Conditions :
Approximately 95% office-based work with occasional field visits under various weather conditionsSedentary work with occasional standing, walking, and lifting (up to 25 lbs) as required
