Director Of Information Technology Dean Of Students
Provide strategic leadership for technology in the Office of the Dean of Students (DOS). Manage daily departmental IT operations. Supervise the broader IT strategy covering applications / systems, security, vendor partnerships, data analytics, elections technology, web platforms, and staff support. Ensure technology resources align with departmental goals, divisional standards, and university policies. Coordinate with Technology Resources (TRECS), including their Desktop Support Services (DSS) team and their Application Development and Management (ADM) team, as well as Enterprise Technology (ET) and the IT Coordinator for VPSA to ensure resilient, secure, and documented IT operations. This position emphasizes departmental strategy, business continuity, and daily partnership with DOS leadership, while leveraging shared-service providers for technical implementation. The role ensures DOS addresses legacy technical debt and modernizes student-facing systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic and technical IT objectives for DOS. Coordinates with DOS leadership on strategic initiatives to meet the needs of the department. Ensures all solutions meet university compliance requirements. Supervise and coordinate multiple IT projects to ensure timelines, budgets, and resources are managed effectively. Ensure DOS requirements are expressed accurately to develop robust project requirements.
- Lead development of departmental reporting and analytics solutions that support assessment, accreditation, and student success. Partner with divisional assessment teams to design and maintain reports, dashboards, and data integrations outside ADM's application support scope. Promote consistent documentation and transparency of DOS data systems
- Recruits, hires, and supervises IT team staff, including the Software Developer and functional supervision of the Web Developer. Oversee agreements with campus partners, such as TRecs, to provide desktop and administrative application support to DOS.
- Serves as Lead Technical Service Contact (TSC) for DOS and the custodian for IT Applications, Security and Systems, including both homegrown and purchased systems.
- Oversee DOS Website, Student Government elections. Ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
- Serve as a member of the Student Affairs IT Leadership Committee. Coordinate long-term IT strategy for all of VPSA. Focus on stabilizing divisional systems, reducing technical debt, and modernizing student-facing solutions. Provide advising and consultation to the Vice President of Student Affairs and Senior Team. Other duties as assigned.
