What the Role Offers :
The Research Associate II will be responsible for supporting both routine production and process development activities in the R&D department. The role involves hands-on laboratory work in microbial fermentation, biomolecule purification, conjugation, and analytical characterization, with strict adherence to cGMP and safety standards. The Research Associate II will also ensure accurate documentation, analyze and present data, and contribute to cross-functional projects.
What You Need to Succeed :
- Perform microbial fermentation operations including bioreactor setup, sterilization, inoculation, sampling, and in-process testing.
- Apply biomolecule purification approaches involving polysaccharides, proteins, and conjugates using unit operations such as Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) and chromatography techniques.
- Conduct biomolecule conjugation using different chemistries and support analytical characterization aspects.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC-MALS, HPAEC-PAD, SEC-HPLC, KTA systems, Tangential Flow Filtration units, lyophilizers, and bioreactors.
- Maintain accurate lab notebooks and ensure thorough documentation of all experimental and production activities to meet internal quality standards.
- Document experiments and manufacturing lots in compliance with cGMP requirements.
- Comply with all lab safety requirements and procedures as per cGMP standards.
- Analyze and present data in functional or cross-functional meetings.
- Perform equipment set-up, sterilization, daily operation, sampling, and in-process analytical testing.
Required Education and Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences field with 24 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree with 02 years of relevant experience.Hands-on experience with microbial fermentation and downstream processing.Skills in biomolecule purification and conjugation techniques.Working knowledge of analytical instrumentation including HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, and related systems.Familiarity with cGMP requirements, laboratory safety, and regulatory compliance.Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records in compliance with quality standards.Strong problem-solving, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with vaccine development, polysaccharide-protein conjugates, or biologics manufacturing.Familiarity with scale-up from bench to pilot or production scale.Prior experience in a regulated biotech or pharmaceutical environment.Physical Demands :
Frequently use of office equipment that requires manual dexterity to operate (i.e. computers, phones, etc.).Occasional carrying, handling, and reaching for objects up to 30 pounds.Frequently sit or stand for long periods of time.Mental Demands :
Excellent oral and written communication skills.Highly organized with an attention to detail.Must maintain a high level of alertness and acuity for analytical review and processing of documentation, daily.Able to work independently with changing priorities.Working Conditions :
Onsite position in Redmond or Woodinville, WA. No remote or hybrid work is available for this position.Availability to work in our Redmond or Woodinville facilities.Extended periods of time on the computer.Extended periods of time on your feet.Working in warm environment wearing sterile gowning.Working with chemicals per standard operating procedure.Estimated Base Salary :
$59,000 - $64,000 / yearly DOEIt is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location.Benefits :
