Overview
We are looking to add a skilled PLC Controls Engineer to our team. Do you have a pulse on the Automotive industry? This role focuses on implementing equipment controls solutions for fluid fill machines in U.S. automotive factories, with design, architecture and implementation of software for hydraulic, pneumatic and motorized equipment as well as interlock and peripheral integration in the plant network system.
As PLC Controls Engineer, you will be the primary liaison to our German affiliate, Durr Somac.
Responsibilities
- Program and debug structure text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms (e.g., Allen Bradley).
- Create robust programs and sequences to control complex processes.
- Use scripting and SQL to interface equipment with MES and to collect data into production databases.
- Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast and smooth operation (Allen Bradley, SEW).
- Design and implement reliable safety systems.
- Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing.
- Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits.
- With support from US and German teams, facilitate site installation.
- Communicate and coordinate with the customer throughout the process.
- Provide training to maintenance personnel and operators.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering — Electrical preferred.5+ years of hands-on experience with PLCs and HMI products; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Travel up to 30% of the time, including some international travel.Design, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.PLC programming experience with a focus on Allen Bradley, Studio 5000, Rockwell, ControlLogix / CompactLogix.Experience with fieldbus architectures such as DeviceNet or Ethernet / IP.Experience programming VFDs and Servo controllers.Proficiency in creating detailed electrical and fluid schematics in CAD.Familiarity with IEC61131-3 languages.Experience with Functional Safety standards.Experience in the automotive industry, final assembly.Must be able to travel to customers locally and nationally up to 30% and travel to Germany for 6-12 week training.Benefits
