Controls Engineer, PLC

Overview

We are looking to add a skilled PLC Controls Engineer to our team. Do you have a pulse on the Automotive industry? This role focuses on implementing equipment controls solutions for fluid fill machines in U.S. automotive factories, with design, architecture and implementation of software for hydraulic, pneumatic and motorized equipment as well as interlock and peripheral integration in the plant network system.

As PLC Controls Engineer, you will be the primary liaison to our German affiliate, Durr Somac.

Responsibilities

• Program and debug structure text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms (e.g., Allen Bradley).
• Create robust programs and sequences to control complex processes.
• Use scripting and SQL to interface equipment with MES and to collect data into production databases.
• Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast and smooth operation (Allen Bradley, SEW).
• Design and implement reliable safety systems.
• Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing.
• Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits.
• With support from US and German teams, facilitate site installation.
• Communicate and coordinate with the customer throughout the process.
• Provide training to maintenance personnel and operators.
