Overview
Senior Mechanical Analysis Engineer (Remote Eligible, U.S.) at GE Vernova. The role is part of the Mechanical Analysis team within the GVH Engineering organization, focusing on analyses of the reactor vessel, internal structures, and components to ensure performance aligns with codes and regulatory requirements. Interfaces include hardware design, civil / containment, core design, and core / plant operations. The position requires technical problem solving, engineering mechanics application, strong analytical skills, and effective collaboration across GVH and GNF teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop creative solutions and reduce analysis complexity to address complex engineering problems; analyze primary plant structures to develop loads and response characteristics.
- Confirm Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) or Reactor Internals components meet structural stress and fatigue criteria.
- Qualify RPV or Reactor Internals repairs or replacement components considering static, dynamic, thermal, and flow-induced loads.
- Evaluate static, dynamic, thermal, and vibration loads to determine loads on reactor systems and internals components.
- Perform linear and non-linear structural evaluations to ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel code stress and fatigue criteria, translating design information into detailed finite element models using GE in-house codes.
- Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
- Establish work plans with the technical leader, including time estimates, schedules, requirements, and processes.
- Identify and manage project execution risk; apply engineering fundamentals to establish expected performance.
- Provide clear, complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE procedures; deliver analysis results in reports for external customers.
- Present analysis results clearly and concisely; manage multiple priorities and communicate status to leadership.
- Coach and mentor less experienced engineers to enhance knowledge and ensure successful outcomes.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.Minimum of 8 years of applicable experience performing mechanical analysis.Eligibility
Preferred work location is GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; highly qualified US-based remote candidates will be considered.Desired Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.Nuclear industry knowledge or experience in highly regulated industries.Strong knowledge of mechanical analysis fundamentals—stress analysis, heat transfer, non-linear systems, vibrations, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and drafting practices including GD&T.Ability to lead initiatives, facilitate meetings, and provide coaching; experience modeling with ANSYS / APDL; scripting experience (PROCD, Python, VBA).Experience with static, transient, and dynamic simulations for complex structures; working knowledge of ASME Section III and XI; ability to model with ANSYS / APDL and GE in-house tools.Benefits and Other Details
The base pay range is $112,000–$160,000, with potential bonuses and variable incentives. The position is expected to close on 10 / 15 / 2025.
