Electrical Automation Design Engineer

Join to apply for the Electrical Automation Design Engineer role at W. L. Gore & Associates . We are looking for a hands-on Automation Engineer to join our team in developing and maintaining medical device manufacturing equipment. In this role, you will be involved in electrical design, software design, specification development, installation, startup, project management, and support for new and existing equipment and systems. You will work with both internal and external partners to design electrical schematics, program PLCs and peripherals, and support unique medical manufacturing equipment within Gore. This position will be located at our facility in Phoenix, Arizona, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical design and hands-on support for process equipment (e.g., drives, programmable logic controller [PLC] logic programming, human-machine interfaces [HMIs], wiring schematics, power systems, instrumentation, and motor control systems)
• Architect, write, simulate, and test structured machine software for Allen-Bradley PLCs
• Work with process engineers to improve and optimize existing equipment and designs
• Be an integral member of a project team that specifies, constructs, commissions and supports design and validation of manufacturing equipment
• Work closely with vendors on the design and purchase of new equipment and modification to existing systems
• Troubleshoot and support existing process and auxiliary equipment
• Create and / or update software and electrical specifications and documentation
• Partner with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and resolve electrical and controls issues with automated manufacturing equipment
