About The Position

We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner for a 60-day locum tenens assignment in Oklahoma beginning Oct 1, 2025. This position offers full-time, 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, providing comprehensive healthcare services in a correctional environment. The assignment involves supporting patient care needs while ensuring compliance with facility protocols and security requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care, including executing physician orders, administering medications, and performing patient examinations and treatments
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess clinical problems and healthcare needs
  • Document physical findings, formulate prognoses, and collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to develop patient care plans
  • Recommend appropriate medications and treatments within licensure scope
  • Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and facilitate early release when appropriate
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of work area and equipment
  • Oversee the provision of required contractual healthcare services
  • Maintain effective working relationships with facility staff, contract providers, and outside agencies
  • Utilize established corporate and facility policies while exercising independent judgment
  • Evaluate medical service provision to prevent unnecessary or duplicate services
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of medical records
  • Monitor and respond to potential catastrophic illnesses
  • Recommend methods to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness in health services
  • Audit pharmacy use for compliance with formulary and pharmacy laws
  • Observe and document inmate / resident behavior
  • Accept on-call responsibilities as required
  • Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups
  • Interpret and process medical, technical, and legal documents as needed
  • Support legal processes by reviewing charts and attending court hearings when necessary
  • Communicate effectively with administration, staff, inmates / residents, and the public, maintaining diplomacy and sound judgment
  • Attend staff and committee meetings to promote communication and quality care
  • Work in confined areas, including rotating shifts and physical security checks
  • Evaluate and recommend physical safety requirements for patient and staff safety

    • Additional Information

  • Minimum 1 year of APP experience required
  • US citizenship required for ICE clearance; expedited clearance process available
  • Social security card and driver’s license required for facility clearance
  • Universal cover page, vendor-neutral resume / CV, and license primary source verification required for submittal
