Summary
A highly regarded mechanical contractor is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Project Lead with extensive HVAC and plumbing design experience to support a diverse portfolio of construction projects across the Washington markets. This individual will serve as the primary engineering point of contact for clients, overseeing the design process from conceptual development through stamped contract documents.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer in Washington State or would be an EIT working towards this licensure. 5+ years of mechanical design experience in both HVAC and Plumbing. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants to contribute to high-profile commercial, institutional, and industrial projects ranging from $100K to $10M+ in project scope.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary mechanical design lead and client liaison for multiple construction projects simultaneously
Develop and oversee mechanical (HVAC and plumbing) systems from basis of design to fully engineered, stamped construction documents
Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, qualifications packages, and participating in client interviews for new pursuits
Collaborate across delivery models including design-build, design-bid-build, MCCM, design assist, and progressive design-build
Provide technical oversight and support to internal design and construction teams
Continuously refine and improve internal templates, standards, and processes to increase design efficiency and accuracy
Support additional initiatives and duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
Required :
5+ years of mechanical (HVAC and plumbing) design experience
Strong working knowledge of mechanical codes, systems integration, and construction documentation
Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects with varying scopes, clients, and delivery methods
Preferred :
Experience working in MEP firms or Design Build Mechanical contractor environment.
Familiarity with sustainable design practices and energy efficiency strategies
Proficiency with software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and energy modeling platforms
