Our team is looking to fill a Dealer Banking Credit Underwriting Manager position for our Sandy, Utah office location.
Role Description :
The individual in this role holds primary responsibility for overseeing the underwriting operations within the division. This includes managing the evaluation and decision-making process for loan applications originated by the department, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance throughout.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage all underwriting activities, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise the assessment, approval, and denial of loan applications, maintaining high standards of quality and risk management.
- Monitor the integrity and performance of approved loans to ensure underwriting quality and adherence to policy.
- Collaborate with the closing department to confirm that all underwriting conditions are satisfied prior to loan finalization.
- May oversee a team of portfolio managers, providing guidance, support, and performance oversight.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in loan underwriting, and ensure the underwriting team is informed and trained accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies within the underwriting division.
- Manage staffing activities including recruitment, transfers, terminations, and performance evaluations.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field required; a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.Minimum of 6 years of experience in credit practices and procedures, financial analysis, lending, underwriting, and regulatory compliance.Demonstrated management experience with the ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.Advanced knowledge of credit analysis, credit scoring models, financial statement interpretation, credit reports, debt-to-income ratios, and loan-to-value assessments.Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment in complex situations.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on building strong customer and internal stakeholder relationships.Proficiency in relevant software applications and underwriting systems.Proven ability to contribute to the development and implementation of new concepts, processes, and best practices.Benefits :
