About The Position

None required, CCRN recommended

Must-Have :

Titration of Vesicant Medications

Familiarity with Pressors

Sedation and Paralytics experience

Experience with Ventilators and Tracheostomies

Telemetry interpretation

Understanding of Hemodynamics and PA Catheter setup and interpretation

Transvenous pacing and Cardioversion skills

TEE familiarity

Chest tube insertions and maintenance

Description :

The unit features a maximum of 16 beds.

Patient-to-nurse ratios may be 2 : 1 or 1 : 1, with occasional 3 : 1 depending on acuity.

RNs are solely responsible for patient care, with no additional support staff.

Equipment used includes Ventilators, Telemetry monitors, Baxter IV Pumps, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, and Impella devices.

Documentation is completed through an electronic health record system.

Scheduling requires 36 hours per week, including alternating weekends.

Traveling staff may float to various areas as needed.

Advanced skills in Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Impella, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy are preferred.

Common procedures performed in the unit include Cardioversion, Central line insertion, EGD, Bronchoscopy, Chest Tube insertions, Pericardiocentesis, and Thoracentesis.

A specific dress code is enforced, requiring all navy or navy and white scrubs.

No pullovers or hoodies are permitted, with specific allowances for soiled uniforms.
